Dream Mom

Compassion exercise for the mamas:
What does motherhood look like to you?
Not just “how do you operate as a mother,” but what does motherhood, in its purest, most beautiful, most ideal form–the mother you most wanted, the mother you most want to be–look like?
Next, how do you view yourself as mother?
How are these two images similar? How are they different?
What do the discrepancies you notice cause you to feel?
Sorrow? Regret? Shame? Frustration?
Do you respond to them with kindness? Or contempt?
I’m going to make a bold claim: you are the mother of your dreams.
Those things about you that don’t seem to line up are just these: lies that need to be cut away, hurt places that need healing, and dark places that need light so they can grow. Every time you meet yourself with truth, kindness, and compassion, the way your ideal mother would, you become more like her: more like who you are, and less like who you aren’t.
How can you reframe your thoughts toward yourself in an area where you don’t feel you measure up today?
"But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day." Proverbs 4:18
"At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining."
1 John 2:8
