hurts so good
PSA: If you are going to purge and clean and organize your house or your life, you’d best be prepared to meet your demons.
Any time we start rooting around the corners of our lives, displacing and disturbing what’s long been hiding in the dark, some of those hidden things are bound to fight back. I’m pretty sure it’s a law of nature. This sounds bad, doesn’t it? I’ve experienced it, you’ve probably experienced it, and it definitely feels bad. But this journey into the recesses of our lives is actually good.
We may meet pain, or shame, or at the very least discomfort, but this work is GOOD.
And no matter how much of a struggle our old patterns of thought and behavior put up, the power of decision does not lie with them. It lies with you- with me. Don’t forget: WE get to decide what stays, and what leaves forever.
I want my house like I want my relationships, like I want my mind, like I want my life: uncluttered and spacious and free.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
