Love wins
There is an outcry that erupts from all the corners of the earth in response to our world's brokenness. It shows up in different places and at different times, but it is never absent.
Outcry and outrage are hitting fever pitch in the Twin Cities of Minnesota this week.
My home.
Hatred, injustice, fear, misunderstanding, and dismissal look like they will win the day... but they can't.
Love does not back down in the face of these enemies.
We can purpose to be conduits of love in volatile times, empowered by the understanding that love itself is the most powerful force there is. Love does not flare and recede. Love is permanent and patient, hard-working and hopeful. Love can – and will – sacrifice everything, but does not fear or assume failure when the situation looks bleak. Love is playing the long game, and love has already won.
We can live in that win. We can show love to ourselves, to our children, to our neighbors – this is where real change begins and grows.
Because of love we can cry out for and seek justice in our communities – true justice, the goal of which is always peace. Not tenuous tolerance, peace. And peace only grows out of love.
